Merry Christmas!

I’m taking the day off to sew and do some quilting for Christmas. The snowmen stitchery is coming along nicely, at a rate of about one stitch per day!  It’s that silly season when we want to bake and have people over for dinner. I’ve put up my Christmas tree and for some reason I want to share it with everyone?!  That was a week ago…

Christmas is here and I’m finally able to sit and enjoy some knitting and blogging. It’s so nice to finally slow down and quit the hustle and bustle to enjoy our family on Christmas day. We had a wonderful dinner with my Dad and his sister and family on Christmas Eve. Now we all sit on our computers and do our various communicating via texts, blogs, facebook, emails, etc. What a joyous occasion! (Smile) Thankfully, my dad will come and bring us to our feet to celebrate with ham and all the fixings.

My children made this beautiful gingerbread house a few days ago. Ben made the dough, cut out the pieces, assembled the house and we all helped him decorate it! Enjoy!

Christmas Post

I have been MIA for some time. You know I’m busy sewing little Christmas goodies but I also have family visiting from Vancouver. I had coffee with a friend today who reminded me that Christmas is a wonderful time of year for blogging! I will try to be more active with the blogging.

I rarely order anything online. Call me old fashioned but I love to go into a shop and pour over the fabrics and yarns while deciding what to take home with me. Well, last week I was in Patchwork Passion and noticed a beautiful redwork pillow. When I went to buy the pattern, it was sold out. I was put on the list and today was the day that it arrived in the post! It felt like Christmas! Take a look at my new redwork embroidery snowmen putting the star on the Christmas tree. I love it!  This is a Crab Apple Hill design by Meg Hawkey. It’s beautiful on linen which is what I plan to use.

It was a wonderful two weeks spent in Vancouver with my family. I have lots of lovely photos of knitting and quilting and sights to show you so hang onto your seats. I’m so inspired from my sister and mom and sister-in-law and have oodles of supplies to keep me going for the entire summer. Good thing I have more time off coming up. 44 days until Christmas so that means about 40 days until my next holiday! I’ve just started a new pair of socks (knitting) that my sister gave me. It’s from her Socks that Rock collection. The pattern is called Unisex Slip by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee.

This is at the ferry terminal in Tsawassen, Vancouver.  On our way to Nanaimo we met a family with three little kids. We reminisced about the many trips we’ve made on these ferries when our boys were little. It turned out that he was the actor who played Alec Ramsay from Adventures of the Black Stallion which was filmed in Langley, BC, where I grew up.  Richard Cox acted with Mickey Rouney in the ’90′s TV series. Does anyone remember the teenage kid? He is all grown up now with three lovely kids of his own.  That was one of our adventures in Canada.
